SATRA Event – Wednesday 16th June 2010

This opening event was attended by SATRA members from various points in the product supply chain, including brand, material and retail.

SATRA’s Research Team suggested a preliminary set of criteria for a sustainability scheme: a way of working recognised throughout the supply chain leading to increased confidence which, in turn, could lead to meaningful labelling. Subjects debated included materials usage efficiency, the pros and cons of lean manufacturing, levels of factory freedom, the short and long-term costs and gains of reducing impact on the environment, modern consumer purchase choices.

SATRA aims to take this debate forward through its own technical research and in continuing to facilitate and develop an industry working group. Further information to be released in due course.
